  • Head of School

    The primary responsibility of the Head of School is to promote and implement the mission and policies of The Woodlands Methodist School, a ministry of The Woodlands United Methodist Church. The Head of School reports to The Woodlands UMC School Board and Senior Pastor. This position is also responsible for executing the strategic vision of the school, overseeing the school’s day to day operations, and guiding each student toward academic excellence while cultivating their God given talents.

    Principle Operational and Administrative Duties

    • Works with The Woodlands UMC School Board to plan development strategies and goals
    • Proposes policies or policy changes, as well as ensures that the policies of the School Board are consistently implemented
    • Directly supervises the Preschool, Lower School and Middle School Director(s)
    • Directly supervises the Director of Admission and School Business Manager and oversee the recruitment, admission and enrollment of students and budget, licensing and accreditation
    • Presents to The Woodlands UMC Finance Committee annual budget and tuition rates in October
    • Develops and manages school budget in compliance with The Woodlands UMC policies and accounting practices
    • Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations regarding education, health and safety
    • Oversees the planning and communication of all school wide events
    • Attends Preschool, Lower and Middle School events
    • Maintains all standards consistent with accreditation guidelines
    • Communicates to all parent constituencies to ensure understanding of all school policies and programs
    • Ensures the safety of each student
    • Promotes TWMS to parents, The Woodlands UMC, the community, and other Christian schools
    • Oversees school management policies and processes, which includes TWMS Student Handbook & Staff Handbook
    • Partners with PEO regarding school activities and improvements
    • Advises the School Board and the Senior Pastor regularly
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the School Board or Senior Pastor

    Principle Instructional Leadership and Development Responsibilities

    • Builds and maintains a positive image for The Woodlands UMC and The Woodlands Methodist School
    • Leads the evaluation of the academic curriculum that it reflects the Christian priorities of TWMS
    • Ensures the school attains and maintains applicable accreditations
    • Stays current on latest education and government issues affecting the school
    • Encourages growth of the faculty through in-service opportunities and continued education
    • Represents TWMS to other academic institutions and associations

    Personal and Spiritual Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in education or related field is required
    • Masters or Doctoral degree in education is preferred
    • Demonstrates a growing Christian character, maturity and leadership at home and in the community
    • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, listening and coaching skills
    • An excellent communicator that has a proven record of easily and effectively communicating with children, parents, teachers, staff and superiors

    Requirements

    To qualify the successful Head of School should be a person with strong Christian values, exceptional leadership qualities with teaching and/or administration experience.

    • Proven leadership experiences with regard to leading, supervising, supporting and developing faculty to their fullest potential
    • Experience in administering the school policies and procedures, including disciplinary measures
    • Experience navigating the governance of a large institution with many stakeholders
    • Commitment to high academic standards, character-building and development of faculty and staff
    • Experience in fundraising and development
    • Experience in classroom teaching
    • Experience in Curriculum development
    • School Administration experience preferred

    • This is a full-time, exempt position eligible for benefits.

  • Lower/Middle Eagle Club Assistant

    The Woodlands Methodist School – Lower/Middle School is currently seeking candidates for Eagle Club Assistant positions for the 2018-2019 school year. Eagle Club is optional extended care for enrolled students. Eagle Club is available to lower and middle school students before school from 7:30-8:30 a.m. or after school until 5:30 p.m. This position is responsible for supervising students during Eagle Club.

    Education and Experience:

    • High School graduate, some college preferred
    • An interest in working with children Kindergarten through 8th grade and a willingness to work under the supervision of the Eagle Club Coordinator
    • Must be a committed Christian comfortable sharing their faith with children and families
    • Must meet licensing requirements; which includes fingerprinting and an extensive background check

     

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Be available for a shift from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
    • Work with and supervise students participating in Eagle Club who will be engaging in art, recreation, games and/or playground activities.
    • Be available to help with homework if needed.
    • Help with arrival and dismissal to Eagle Club
    • Follow daily plans in meeting with the school philosophy
    • Collaborate with the Administrative Services Coordinator and Eagle Club Coordinator in all Eagle Club activities.
    • Meet licensing and school requirements for in-service training and professional growth in a timely manner

  • Nurse Substitute

    The Woodlands Methodist School – Preschool and Lower/Middle School is currently seeking candidates for nurse substitutes available for the 2018 – 2019 school year.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree and current Texas Registered Nursing License
    • At least two years of experience in Pediatric Health Care
    • Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification
    • Ability to work part-time
    • Growing Christian
    • Has a heart for working with kids
    • Must have strong oral and written communication skills
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new programs quickly

  • Paraprofessional (Middle School)

    The Woodlands Methodist School is currently seeking two part-time Paraprofessional positions in our Middle School.

    The Paraprofessional is a part-time position responsible for supporting the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, social and physical development of children within a safe, healthy learning environment. They encourage children to reach their fullest potential, while upholding the Guiding Principles of the school.

    The Paraprofessional is supervised by a Lead Teacher, responsible to the Director of Academics and is also accountable to the Principal and TWUMC School Board.

    Education and Experience:

    • A high school graduate with some college; college degree is preferred
    • At least 21 years of age, with good academic skills, an interest in working with children, and willingness to work under the supervision of a Lead Teacher
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Flexible, with the ability to work in a highly demanding, stressful environment
    • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
    • Committed Christian
    • Must meet licensing requirements; which include fingerprinting and an extensive background check

     

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Interact with children
      • Assist with monitoring and instructing children in classroom activities
      • Model positive behavior
      • Assist with children in the classroom, large group, small groups or individual students
    • Assess children
      • Assess children on a regular basis
      • Take pictures and maintain written observations and other documentation for each child
    • Curriculum preparations
      • Assist the Lead Teacher in incorporating required activities into lesson plans that support the children’s development
      • Help Lead Teacher prepare activities that support lesson plans
      • Research, plan, and develop age appropriate activities for lesson plans in conjunction with the Lead Teacher
    • Communicate with parents
      • Inform parents about daily classroom routine, expectations
      • Interact with parents when they have questions or concerns
    • Documentation
      • Complete all necessary paperwork for classroom activities including attendance, screenings, parent/teacher conferences, and home visits in a timely manner
      • Maintain up to date and accurate education folders in include complete incident reports, permission slips, etc.
      • Maintain classroom supply lists and inventory
    • Supervision
      • Assist with carline, and other school-wide duties as assigned
      • Ensure children are supervised at all times, according to the policies of the school and proper ratios are met
    • Administration
      • Inform the Director of Academics or Principal in cases of unreasonable behavior, parent complaints or other problems which should be handled by administration in the best interest of the school
      • Meet school requirements for in-service training and professional growth in a timely manner
      • Attend monthly staff and team meetings
    • Classroom maintenance
      • Assist in caring and maintenance of rooms, equipment and shared space to ensure a clean and organized learning environment
      • Cooperate with others who share the classroom, including school staff and other TWUMC ministries
      • Routinely check classroom equipment and materials to ensure they are in good repair
    • Other duties, as assigned

Preschool/Children of the Woodlands

  • Preschool Classroom Assistant

    The Woodlands Methodist School – Preschool is currently seeking candidates for Preschool Classroom Assistant positions in classrooms for children three and four years old for the 2018-2019 school year. This position assists the teacher in working with children, preparing materials, cleaning the rooms, and supervision.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Each assistant should have a minimum of two years of college credit
    • Three years of experience working with children is preferred
    • Assistants must be committed Christians comfortable sharing their faith with children and families
    • Must meet licensing requirements; which includes fingerprinting and an extensive background check

     

    JOB DUTIES:

    • Assist the classroom teacher with assigned tasks, following daily plans that support the school’s Guiding Principles and policies
    • Assist with children in the classroom, in a large group, small group or with individual students
    • Work directly with children to meet individual needs
    • Collaborate with the Director and other staff in activities involving the whole program
    • Assist with car line and other assigned school-wide duties
    • Be involved in learning appropriate classroom practices through modeling, continuing
    • education, and an awareness of accreditation standards and licensing requirements
    • Meet licensing and school requirements for in-service training and professional growth in a timely manner
    • Cooperate with others who share the classroom, including school staff and other TWUMC ministries

    The Woodlands Methodist School – Preschool is currently seeking candidates for Preschool Eaglet Club Assistant positions for the 2018-2019 school year. Eaglet Club is optional extended care for enrolled students. Eaglet Club is available to preschool students after their school day until 2:45 p.m. This position is responsible for supervising children during Eaglet Club.

    Education and Experience:

    • High School graduate, some college preferred
    • An interest in working with young children and a willingness to work under the supervision of the Eaglet Club Coordinator

    • Be available to substitute a minimum of four times a month for staff, keeping school informed of availability

    • Meet licensing and school requirements for in-service training and professional growth
    • Cooperate and clarify expectations with any co-worker who may be assigned to the class
