You won't find many folks who have lived in The Woodlands for as long as Linda and her husband Steve! When they arrived over 40 years ago there was not one traffic light. Their three grown children all live in the area, and Linda loves being Mimi to nine grandchildren, six of them having attended the Preschool/Children of The Woodlands or The Woodlands Methodist School. Linda's entire career has focused on nurturing and educating children at The Woodlands United Methodist Church.

While with W.I.S.D. he received the honor of teacher of the year and administrator of the year.

Mrs. Shaffer answered the call to teach nearly three decades ago when she earned a dual degree in early childhood and elementary education, with a concentration in special education, from Penn State University. While teaching Grade 1 and kindergarten in public, private and parochial schools, she studied at Louisiana State University. She researched developmentally appropriate practices and parent involvement, published professional journal articles, and earned a master's of science in child development. Mrs. Shaffer joined the Preschool/Children of The Woodlands/The Woodlands Methodist School staff in 2005 when she accepted a position as the Pre-First teacher.

The teaching philosophy of Darryl Bayer is to instill lifelong learning and appreciation for music and the arts as a whole. It is a journey filled with wonder and excitement so the instruction must be filled with these emotions to captivate the students. Continuation and growth are key components without ever sacrificing the integrity of the class. Degrees of difficulty are met as challenging uphill climbs - not mountains to scale. Mr. Bayer believes in an "ebb and flow" approach to classes where students are allowed to express their impressions of the music concepts from the perspective of a young child.

Darryl Bayer is recognized as a Houston/The Woodlands based professional musician/trumpeter, conductor and educator. He is the principal trumpeter of the Baytown Symphony and trumpet teacher at Lee College since 2011. After serving The Woodlands Symphony for 15 years as principal trumpet, Darryl Bayer has been promoted to Artistic Director, designing and leading concerts now for four seasons. He also the director and lead trumpet for the celebrated Texas Brass Ensemble. Discography include producing three independent CDs entitled Sounds of the South, Music from Beyond and Soaking Reign and dozens of independent recordings by local arts.

Darryl Bayer also teaches the orchestra at Lone Star College and maintains a studio of loyal young trumpet players in the Woodlands, Conroe and Magnolia Areas. Previous faculty appointments have included Lee College Baytown, Blinn College in Brenham and San Jacinto College Central. For ten years, Darryl Bayer was Director of Instrumental Music for the John Cooper School in The Woodlands.

Darryl and his wife Edie live on a "micro-farm" in Stagecoach, Texas where they raise chickens, rabbits and ducks. They give rooms to traveling ministers in their ranch house and have a traveling ministry themselves, Kingdom Promoters - promoting the kingdom of God.

Mrs. Cox strives to create a community of learners who find reading and writing joyful and interesting. She wants to build meaningful relationships with her students and guide them to grow a love for reading and understand that it is their ticket to explore the world outside of the classroom walls. She believes in a student-centered, hands-on classroom where students are able see themselves as readers and authors. The Readers and Writers workshop style classroom allows Mrs. Cox to encourage the students to be innovative through critical thinking and problem solving. Mrs. Cox believes that a classroom should be a safe, warm environment where students feel comfortable taking risks as we venture to find the path that works for each individual reader to accomplish their goals.

Amanda Crépin grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and completed several study abroad programs in France while in college. She has been teaching in Houston area private schools since 2001, and has taught all levels of French, including AP and IB courses, as well as history, geography, and research seminars. She is active in professional organizations for world language teachers, and enjoys professional development. Mme Crépin lives in Conroe with her husband, two boys, two cats, and two frogs. When not at school, she loves to exercise, cook, travel, garden, and ride horses.
