Social Studies Alive! America’s Past covers American history from the first migrations into the Americas through the 20th century. Intense interaction with the personalities, places, and events that structured our nation leads students to be both keen observers of and informed participants in U.S. history. Geography is also a very important part of this class.

Grade: 6 | Ancient Civilizations
Prerequisite: None

History Alive! The Ancient World introduces students to the beginnings of the human story. As they explore the great early civilizations of Egypt and the Near East, India, China, Greece, and Rome, students discover the secrets of these ancient cultures that continue to influence the modern world.

Grade: 7 | Texas History
Prerequisite: None

In 7thgrade Texas History students study the historic, geographic, political, religious, and economic ideas and events that shaped Texas.

Our Honors Texas History courses give more opportunity for increased depth, independent study, and writing.  The goal of the honors course is to prepare students for 8thgrade honors courses and high school AP courses.  Students choosing honors courses should have a minimum ELA score above 80% on most recent Iowa Exam and should maintain an annual average above 90 in ELA and Social Studies courses for the prior year.  Students seeking entry to honors courses will produce a timed writing sample at meeting with instructor.

Prerequisite: None

In 8thgrade US History students study the historical, geographic, political, religious, and economic ideas and events that shaped the United States from the colonial period to Reconstruction.
